Dr. Gabor Mate Workshop on Stress
Dr. Gabor Mate, Vancouver doctor, bestselling author, and international speaker who has ADD and has written a book on ADD and a book on Stress will be presenting a 6 hour intensive workshop on how to understand and manage stress. It’ll will be held on June 4th 2005 in Vancouver BC at the Sutton Place Hotel from 9:00 am- 4:30pm.
Dr. Mate spoke recently at my Adult ADD Support Group on the topic of ADD and Stress, and he packed the room. We had 70 people show up, and he got great reviews from the members.
I also took a class from him on ADD at Langara College’s Certificate in ADHD Studies program, and I was impressed. Some people just have a high level of intellectual knowledge but a low level of being (as in a human being), he has both.
He’s the author of When the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress
and Scattered Minds: A New Look at the Origins and Healing of Attention Deficit Disorder ![]()
In this workshop, Dr. Mate teaches:
-The mind/body unity as explained by modern science.
-The nature of stress and its physiological consequences.
-Major stressors on human beings: loss of control, uncertainty, and conflict
-Why stress remains hidden in our culture
-How to recognize and prevent stress
-The seven A’s of healing

I have seen Dr. Mate for my ADD and read his books. I highly recommend any opportunity to hear what Dr. mate has to say.

If you’re looking for an ADD coach we work over the phone so the location doesn’t matter. For therapists and educational psychologists, you might want to go to some new york ADD support groups to ask for recommendations Anita. Check out the links here to start searching for them

I wish Anita the best. I know it can and is so frustrating. Their is a coach in NYC named Bonnie Mincu that specialized in AD/HD. Mostly, I recommend that you gather a support group of friends/family to have your back during this time of discovery. Living with an AD/HD wiring is frustrating in our current society, but, also a huge blessing. That is the important aspect to remember.
