I’m co writing a book on Adult ADD with one of my former ADD Coaching clients. While I never tell anyone else the name of any of my clients for privacy reasons (it’s fine if they want to tell other’s they’re being coached by me), in this case it’s OK because he’s:
1. Already publicly mentioned it to others at my Vancouver Adult ADD Support Group Meeting
and
2. We’re writing the book together (OK, he’s doing most of the writing but I’m helping:)
His name is Jeff Hamilton. It will be about his personal experience dealing with ADD. It will cover some of the problems he had relating to ADD in different area of his life, and the different treatment methods he used. ADD Medication, counseling, Adult ADD coaching with me, exercise, diet, self-awareness techniques etc. Also what the results were of using the different techniques, and some strengths and advantages of ADD.
Jeff made a hell of a lot of progress during our ADD coaching sessions. He was really motivated and he put a lot of effort into the assignments and inquires between calls.
The more effort you put in between the coaching calls the better the results will be and the faster you’ll see change and progress. There are definitely benefits during the actual ADD coaching sessions (usually 30-45 minutes) but a lot of the benefits come between the calls.
I went over to his place last night for to do some editing/brainstorming. Much more enjoyable doing it over a few cold beers on a sunny night than in some dingy office where the air gets recirculated once a year. There are some advantages to self-employment:)
I’m really impressed by what we have got so far. He’s finished the first draft and it looks pretty impressive. We’ll be putting up a blog for the book fairly soon.
Anyone out there know of any good literary agents for a personal book on Adult ADD? Or any tips on dealing with book agents and publishers? We’re new to this.

I am an adult recently diagnosed w/ ADD {at 55yrs old} . My teen son is ADD, also. I am an instructor at a college and we are going to do a study on my large classes of freshman this fall. I am interested in finding out just how many students would self idenify themselves as poss. ADD by taking a self test. Then I will cross these results with nicotine use to see IF some maybe using smoking to self med themselves without knowing that they are.
Comments?
Sounds interesting Ray,
maybe try the adult ADD screener from Harvard/NYU/WHO I have on my ADDCoach4u website to screen. http://www.addcoach4u.com/adultaddtest.html
