Dr. Hallowell and Dr. John Ratey are teaching a new 22-week teleconference course entitled ADD in 2005 starting November 2nd, 2005. They’ll be talking about the latest scientific developments in ADD as well as strategies to deal with ADD.

Their target audience is professionals who deal with ADD and “very interested adults”. The course will consist of 22 weekly 45 minute lectures plus a 30 minute Q&A. Participants will get 27.5 continuing education credits. The cost is US $2,150. Not pocket change. But, on the other hand, if they had it at $10 a class they’d have 3000 people on the line, no time for questions. I’m sure if you had the money, you’d probably feel it’s worth it, you’re getting access to 2 of the top people in the field of ADD for nearly half a year.

Here are some of the topics covered in the course.

Diagnosis, biology of ADD, organization, time and coaching, depression & social issues, comorbidities, aggression, abuse and ADD, addictions and motivation, non-medicinal approaches to ADD, careers, ADD in couples and friendships etc.

Sounds very interesting. I’ve seen Dr. Hallowell talk at the ADD resources conference in Seattle last October and was very impressed. His Delivered from Distraction Delivered from Distraction : Getting the Most out of Life with Attention Deficit Disorderbook with Dr. John Ratey is the first book I recommend people read to learn more about ADD. He can cover the meds plus the other treatment aspects of ADD.

He also focuses on the positives of ADD unlike some of the pathology pushers who are 98% focused on the negatives and weaknesses of ADD. You know the same people who wonder at ADD conventions why there’s “medication compliance problems” with kids and teenagers with ADD. Might be related to your sole focus on the negatives eh?
