Dr. Ed Hallowell & Dr. John Ratey’s New Dec-March ADD Individual Teleclasses

Filed under: ADD Advocacy, ADD Awareness, ADD Treatment Pete Quily @

Dr. Ed Hallowell & Dr. John Ratey already have a series of 22 teleclasses on ADD, see All About Minds.

I’ve suggested to Melissa that 22 teleclass series on ADD might be great for some people but they’d get more people to attend if they offer single teleclasses as well. They’ve finally done so.

They’ve just announced shorter individual teleclass on specific topics relating to ADD in December and January. Their ADD teleclasses consist of a 45 minute lecture plus 15 minute moderated Q&A. They have one guest instructor Sari Solden for the “Relationship Self Defense for Women with ADD Teleclass. Sari is the author of Women with Attention Deficit Disorder : Embracing Disorganization at Home and in the WorkplaceWomen with ADD and Journeys Through ADDulthood : Discover a New Sense of Identity and Meaning with Attention Deficit DisorderJourneys Through Addulthood.

Dr. Ed Hallowell
& Dr. John Ratey are the coauthors of the ADD Driven To Distraction : Recognizing and Coping with Attention Deficit Disorder from Childhood Through Adulthoodclassic Driven to Distraction and the 2005 Delivered from Distraction : Getting the Most out of Life with Attention Deficit DisorderDelivered from Distraction as well as other books relating to ADD and the brain. They’re arguably 2 of the best known ADD authors.

I like that they understand and can use the medical model of ADD but have transcended the ideological lens of ADD as 98% pathology. They see some of the positive aspects of ADD and see the value of a multimodal treatment of ADD, and give specific examples in their books. I’ve heard Dr. Hallowell speak at an ADD conference in Seattle last year (notes based on his speech are on my website here) and was very impressed, I’m sure the ADD teleclasses will be worthwhile.

Here’s the list of ADD teleclasses they’re offering along with the dates and times.

  1. I was wondering if you’d like to participate in the Carnival of Compassion? Check it out here: http://www.medsim.net/carnivalofcompassion.php, to find out what it’s all about. It also has an example of what you’d do, so read through to find that link.

It would bring alot of new readers to your blog and bring attention to clusterheadaches in general (which would be good for all of us, right?). Let me know if you’re interested by emailing me at carnivalofcompassion@yahoo.com.

  2. Oops! I’m so ADD. Duh. lol I goofed on the above. What I meant to say is that it would bring a spotlight on ADD/ADHD which would help all of us. Sorry about that. It’s funny. I was just talking to someone about cluster headaches and ended up typing it when I really meant to say ADD. lol Sorry. Let me know if you’re interested, ok?
