Can an ADDer Become a Billionaire?

Yes. Here’s one example

Paul Orfalea was a D-student, flunked two grades, was expelled from four out of eight schools, and graduated eighth from the bottom of his high school class. As a hyperactive dyslexic, he was barely able to read, struggled on school tests, had no mechanical ability, and after being fired from numerous jobs, was virtually unemployable as a young adult. Eventually, he found a way to turn learning disabilities into learning opportunities.

He later founded Kinko’s copy center in 1970, and built it up to over 1,000 stores in 4 continents. He later sold it to Fedex and it became Fedex Kinkos

Political Karmic Payback, One Other Reason

Filed under: Misc., Random Cool Stuff Pete Quily @

Follow up to my previous post about the Karmic payback to Paul Martin when he loses power in Monday’s Canadian Federal election.

But first, a short diversion.

Here’s a must see video of Paul Martin showing his love for Alfonso Gagliano, the public works minister during the sponsorship scandal which happened on his watch in his department. martin later fired Gagliano from his patronage appointment as Ambassador to Denmark

via shotgun blog. Back to our story.

Warren Kinsella former Liberal party campaign strategist and long term Jean Chretien loyalist talks about why he and ex liberal cabinet minister Sheila Copps (another long time Chretien loyalist) are advising non liberals on how to defeat paul martin’s liberals.

Political Karmic Payback Coming Soon

Watching someone evil self destruct. Sometimes revenge is unnecessary since evil people can sometimes get their Karmic payback in their lifetime. Warning rant ahead.

Ex Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien is now enjoying watching Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin self destruct and in doing so destroy the Liberal party in our current Canadian federal election. Martin spent years weaselly plotting to overthrow Chretien who won 3 consecutive Liberal majority governments while acting as Chretien’s finance minister. After overthrowing Chretien, Martin’s first election got a minority Liberal government, governed poorly (act like a weasel for 10 years and you govern like one apparently), and now it looks like a there will be a minority conservative government on election day this Monday, with the Liberals set to take brutal beating.

Living Well is the Best Revenge.

Living well is the best revenge.

George Herbert, English clergyman & metaphysical poet (1593 - 1633) said it first.

Here’s an example. Michael Dell of Dell computers said in 1997, (via Lockergnome)

… when asked about what he would do with Apple, which was struggling at the time, said “I’d shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.

Many people have predicted Apple’s demise but they just keep on innovating and surviving and thriving. How many companies do you know who have an 87% market share in the consumer electronics world, i.e., the iPod? I joke to windoze users that if it wasn’t for Apple, they’d still be using DOS with just a keyboard and no mouse.

Wellbutrin XL Gets Canadian Approval

Filed under: ADD Medication, ADD Treatment Pete Quily @

Biovail got Canadian approval for their anti depression drug Wellbutrin XL in 150 and 300 mg once a day tablets.

Biovail aims to begin selling the drug late in the first quarter of this year.

Once-daily Wellbutrin XL is an effective first-line treatment for depression with a low incidence of sexual dysfunction, weight gain and somnolence,” said Douglas Herman, vice-president and general manager of Biovail Pharmaceuticals Canada.

“This tolerability profile is important, given that drug-related side-effects of anti-depressants are a major reason why treatment may be discontinued.”

However, side-effects in clinical trials included headaches, insomnia, dizziness and decreased appetite, the company cautioned.

My Ego is Swelling

Here’s a new testimonial from one of my ADD Coaching clients, my ego is swelling. Once in a while ego boosts are a good thing, but it’s important to remember that in ADD coaching, the client does most of the work and is responsible for the results. The ADD coach is the faciliator. We try to bring the answers out of the client, and (among other things) point out what they are doing right (something many ADDers either miss or gloss over too quickly).

Abigail did a lot of work, was open to and tried many different things, had the courage to look inside herself, and really perservered.

Light Cafe for the Sun Challenged

light cafe for the winter blues

Here’s a great idea.

There’s a market for it here in Vancouver, let alone the rest of Canada and the non tropical world. We saw sun once yesterday 29 straight days of rain, one day of sunshine, and it’s back to another week of rain.

The Dana Café at the Science museum in London offers free 20-minute light treatments to counter the effect of dark winter days. It

… contains four specially designed light boxes, each of which produces light more than five times brighter than normal house lights. The atmosphere is designed to be relaxing, with the light boxes arranged around a circular sofa.
