Great subject! Love the quote.

Overcoming obstacles is the only way to deal with disability. We can sit back and whine about life (I've done my fair share in the past) or we can buck up and make a change.

One obstacle I've overcome in my life is forgetting about the kids. I'm on disability and a fulltime dad, so it's my job to pick them up from school. Years ago this used to be very difficult for me. Invariably, I'd get distracted and would completely forget from time to time to pick them up. Oh, I'd remember, but an hour later. Not good. So I trained myself to not do that anymore. I'm very mindful of the clock now, plus I have my PDA beep at me constantly. When it's time to be out front to get the bus when my four year old comes home, I'm not on the other side of town doing something completely unrelated! I'm right where I'm supposed to me. It's not easy. In fact, it's quite difficult to do, but I am sufficiently motivated to not let my kids down anymore.

Consequently, this is one less thing my wife has to worry about, too, and my marriage is better for it.
