i have taken 2 of my children who are now adults through the adhd assessment route it took 11 years to see the right people my eldest got a years worth of ritalin then it was removed cos he was said to be too old for the medication hes spent 10 years in and out of prison .my daughter was removed from ritalin after a short trial as she began having epilepsy she is now 23 and has been having violent outbursts but apart from her being bigger the behaviours are no different from when she was a youngster she has sld the outbursts led the proffessionals to take her into a mental hospital for assessment 3 weeks ago .no medication has being given as yet theyre just observing . The hardest of all to take is my other daughter now 14 has it too but im being given exactly the same run around people saying she hasnt got adhd as i had 11 years ago nothings improved all ive being given is yet another social worker to work with the family have i really got time for all this ? because i think not ive lived this life for 25 years i know what im talking about but its falling on deaf ears even after all this time

Actually there is a lot we can do about it. As soon as there is a story on ADD in the media that's inaccurate, ADDers can call in or write letters to the media to complain or do so on their blogs, i.e., ask there blog readers to phone in or write in and give a email/ph # or address to do so.

Yesterday at work I explained to my coworkers that I have ADD and that I need to figure out how to work around that so I don't stress out etc. I could tell by the looks on some of their faces that they thought I was just bs'ing (or was that my hypersensitivity?). It's a darn shame in today's times that we have to be made to feel that we aren't important. That impression is perpetuated by the media and there's not much we can do about it.

Thank you so much for this site! Remember the Milk may turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to me!
