I’m the featured blog of the week at the Genetics and Health blog, a b5media blog
written by Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei

Pete has an amazing blog all about living with ADD as an adult. It’s active and chock full of information.

Adult ADD Strengths is one of the best health blogs I’ve seen in a long time. Well done, Pete!

thanks Dr. Lei

She has a good post listing some of the candidate’s for gene’s associated with ADD here and the environmental exposures associated with ADD that’s worth a look.

One correction, ADD in adults is 5%, not 1%. ADD is the #2 genetically inherited condition at 80% (height is #1), so it will be interesting to see what sort of things genetic research on ADD might bring us. As Dr. Lei mentions in this post on the dopamine transporter gene and ADHD

Not everyone with ADD responds well to every ADD medication. Future research in the area of pharmogenetics might help tailor the ADD med to the individual ADDer, perhaps reducing the time of the current trial and error method most ADDers go through today in finding the right ADD medication(s) and dose that works best for them.

Dr. Lei is a prolific blogger, she also has two other b5 blogs A Hearty Life, and Play Library
