Internet Addiction Wake Up Devices

The internet can be very addicting to ADDers. Dr. Margaret Weiss head of the Vancouver ADHD clinic has mentioned at a recent CHADD Vancouver meeting that she saw internet addiction as a big problem for many people with ADHD.

Even if you don’t have a full blown case of internet addiction, the instant gratification and infinite amount of websites, blogs, forums, e-groups games, porn, gambling, chat rooms etc on every possible topic under the sun can be a strong temptation for most people to spend a lot of time on. BS is usually defined as inventions made in ignorance of the facts, where the primary goal is to protect oneself…People lie for three reasons; the first is to protect themselves. ADD Awareness Day September 20th 2006. What Will You Do To Get The Word Out?

Filed under: ADD Advocacy, ADD Awareness, ADD Organization Pete Quily @

ADD Awareness Day is on Wednesday, September 20th 2006. ADDA has a lot of great information that makes it easy and simply for ADDers to get involved to get the word out about ADD awareness. ADDA is “happy to advertise both your group and your event on our website”. ADDA’s ADHD Awareness Task Force is looking for volunteers to work on the committee that will now work year round to promote ADD awareness.

Think of it as your opportunity to educate people about ADD, especially those who say it doesn’t exist or it’s a drug company and space alien conspiracy etc. Doesn’t have to be a big event, can be as simple as a letter to the editor.

ADD and Getting Motivated Some Answers

Here’s a link to the notes from my Vancouver Adult ADD support Group meeting on the topic of ADD and getting motivated that I blogged about earlier, see ADD and getting motivated some questions

We talked about how it might be useful to create a list of some tasks that you’re motivated to do because it’s enjoyable. Then find ways to apply or modify them to tasks you’re not easily motivated to do to increase your level of motivation, and likelyhood of completion.

See the page for the full list.
