Hi Pete & Rhonda,

Adderall is one of many adhd meds one size never fits all. Many people with adhd self medicate with pot see my adhd and addiction section
http://www.addcoach4u.com/addandaddictionsartic.html

Try starting your search at my US adhd support group list here
http://www.addcoach4u.com/support/usadhdsupportgroups.html

and ask them for names of people who know enough about ADHD to diagnose it in your area.

My step-son was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and is still struggling today with it. He has started experimenting with pot as it "calms" him. We know the dangers of this experimentation and are trying desperately to guide him away form that destructive path. Adderall had some side effect on him (Like sweating and nervousness) and he does not take it. As a child he took Ritalin but he has not taken that medication in years. After reading parts of Dr. Hallowell's and Dr. Ratey's book "Driven to Distraction" (especially the section about the young 23 year old -Peter) we decided that maybe he needs to be re-evaluated as he seems to be self-medicating (and we fear self-destructing) with pot. We cannot find the right MD in the Huntsville, Alabama area and were hoping you had some insight or maybe recommendations. We are about a 1 hour drive to both Nashville and Birmingham so it wouldn't be a problem to drive there if we had to.

Thanks so much, Pete and Rhonda
