Gabor Mate Keynoting ADDResources Conference in Seattle, Oct 7-8th, 2006

by Pete Quily on October 5, 2006

Just a quick reminder that ADD Resources is having their annual ADD conference this weekend in Seattle. I’ve attended it before and found it very useful. Also you can’t beat the price $85 for 2 days! CME’s are available.

Too bad they decided to have it on Canadian Thanksgiving, if they picked another day they might have had a bigger turnout from the Vancouver area, since we’re only 3 hours away.

Vancouver based Dr. Gabor Mate, author of Scattered Minds Scattered: How Attention Deficit Disorder Originates And What You Can Do About It will be the keynote speaker. Here’s his two talks, the first is open to the general public. If you get a chance to hear him, take it, he know’s his material and talks from the heart.

Sunday Morning: Beyond the Medical Model: Living Triumphantly with ADD
(open to everyone)

If we see ADD not as a disease but as a problem of incomplete development in child or adult, we can create conditions that will help promote development in ourselves or others. Beyond symptom control, participants will learn how to support their own development so that ADD need not be a crippling constraint on their personal and professional lives.

Sunday Afternoon: Advanced Seminar: Beyond Pharmacology: Supporting the ADD Adult With and Without Medications (for AD/HD professionals only)

They’ll be 30 different breakout sessions and looks like they’ll have quite a good variety of speakers and topics.
