The Round World Talk

Filed under: ADD Advocacy, Travel, Vancouver Pete Quily @

I caught the last part of The world is not flat’s Lee and Sachi LeFever’s talk before moosecamp last Thursday on their 1 year trip around the world that they blogged and vlogged about. You can read and watch some of their some amazing photos and videos of their trip highlights and lowpoints or see their google map of their trip

Talked to Vancouver bloggers and internet strategists James Sherrett and Monique Trottier. Every time I seem them they both seem to be very positively focused, and as a probable consequence, seem to usually be fairly happy. A lesson for us all. What you focus on expands.

Vancouver Area Web - Blog- Web 2.0- Geek-Wired- Internet Community Directory

Filed under: Random Cool Stuff, Vancouver Pete Quily @

With the large number of techies/bloggers/web workers/geeks/wired folk/internet businesses/pick your preferred word in the Vancouver area, why isn’t there a comprehensive directory of such people and organizations/nonprofits/businesses?

When I recently did a search for Google map mashups in Vancouver I expected to find a central blog or website listing them all. I didn’t and created a list of 10 Vancouver based google maps mashups but thought there’s a need for a centralized listing of all or most things internet/tech related in Vancouver.

1 year Wait List for a Full Year for Adult ADHD Diagnosis Embarrassing? Solution? Close Down the Clinic.

Well close the wait list to the clinic, if you’re in you were in line a few week ago you’ll get processed. All new patients get turned away.

I’ve blogged about this before, BC Adults with ADHD Abandoned, and you can watch my Global TV interview on the closure of the only adult ADHD clinic in the entire province at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.

Despite a year-long waiting list for an entire year, budgetary restraints have forced BC’s principal diagnostic and treatment centre to bar further referrals of adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, while they do a “review” of the program with no target completion date

10 Vancouver Related Google Maps Mashups

Filed under: Random Cool Stuff, Travel Pete Quily @

Here are some Vancouver related google map mashups, or mashups in which you can scroll to search for Vancouver related items. Thought some visitors to Vancouver for the Northern Voice Blogging conference might stay around for a few days to check out our fair and expensive city.

Most of these come from searching through the excellent Google Maps Mania blog

Here’s the list of Vancouver related Mashups:

Late Night Stores, restaurants, coffee shops beer stores etc.
WalkJogRun Route List scroll to find vancouver

Tourism Vancouver’s new interactive map not a google one but interesting nonetheless. You can search by category, restaurants, entertainment, nightlife, sightseeing, transportation, cultural events etc. Very cool. Their main map’s website includes links to virtual tours ie chinatown, kit’s beach, Queen Elizabeth park etc.

The Well Organized Web Designer. Physical, Digital, Design and CSS

This may be relevant to some of the bloggers at the Northern Voice Blog Conference in Vancouver this Friday and Saturday. Where there probably will be more adults with attention surplus condition than the average 5% in the population. See Top 10 Advantages of ADD in a High Tech Career.

Here’s an example of how a Web Designer, Douglas Bowman of Stopdesign, who’s

been organized most of my life

stays organized in the different areas of his web design business. He’s redesigned sites like Blogger, Wired News, and Adaptive Path.

Vancouver Blogging Conference Next Week Northern Voice and Moosecamp

Filed under: ADD and Technology, Random Cool Stuff Pete Quily @

I’m going to the Northern Voice 2007 blogging conference and Moose camp next week. Went to last year’s conference and learned a lot and had a great time. Got interviewed on Chris Pirillo’s Podcast on my top ten advantages of having ADD in a high tech career post which got dugg, and delicioused during the conference which probably helped contribute to my good mood:) Even today google “Top 10 Advantages” and you’ll find my post pretty high on the list of the 114 million hits. One of the many things that blogs are good for is spreading ideas.
Here’s a carefully hidden list of attendees at this year’s conference
