Too Busy to Eat? Make Time For Brain Crash and Stress

Filed under: ADD Awareness, ADD Treatment Pete Quily @

Often impulsive, inattentive, easily distracted and forgetful ADDers forget to eat. Then their blood sugar drops, and here’s some of the consequences from Conscious Choice’s Dr. Ronald Hoffman

Experiments have now confirmed what the hypoglycemic person experiences. Low blood sugar triggers hunger — especially carbo craving. In addition, the brain is starved for its preferred fuel: glucose. At rest, the brain consumes one-third of the body’s total glucose requirement. The brain is a hungry, rapidly metabolizing organ, and fuel shortages  in it create problems with concentration, memory, and mood. A recent study showed that individuals with low blood sugar scored poorly on tasks requiring memory, concentration, and reasoning.

Being Super-charged All the Time

Senatorsmith blogs about what his experiences with ADHD are like. A really good post on what’s it like to have ADHD
He blogs about some of the negatives

in other ways it’s like being super-charged all the time. You get one idea and you have to act on it, and then, what do you know, but you’ve got another idea before you’ve finished up with the first one, and so you go for that one, but of course a third idea intercepts the second, and you just have to follow that one, and pretty soon people are calling you disorganized and impulsive and all sorts of impolite words that miss the point completely. - Unequivocally me… ever had a discussion with me where I ramble onto multiple tangents

Parti Québécois Leader André Boisclair Refuses to Apologize for “Slanted Eyes” Asian Comments. Racism still acceptable in Quebec?

Filed under: Misc. Pete Quily @

2nd Update: Gilles Gagnon an ADQ candidate in Abitibi-East, Quebec is backtracking from his comments  on his business’s website about American and European Jews waging war too maintain their economic status.

Update: Jse-Che Lam a former member of the Star’s Community Editorial Board clues in the clueless

The Boisclair controversy did not crack Page 1 of the Star but earned front-page status in Chinese language dailies nationwide… If Boisclair had been a GTA-based politician, these words would have swiftly ended his political career.

One could explain to André Boisclair why “les yeux brides” is both divisive and inappropriate. However, I’m afraid that unless he could experience the world through my eyes, he would never truly understand.

I was interviewed in the current edition of Canadian Living magazine (it’s the April 07 version on the newstands now, even though it’s March) on the topic of adult ADHD in women and ADHD coaching.

Unfortunately the article isn’t available online but is currently available in magazine stores across Canada. It’s a 6 page article written by Mark Witten,

who has won a number of Gold National Magazine Awards, and national awards from the Canadian Science Writers’ Association and the Canadian Nurses Association for health writing.

ADHD Is Treatable A Point Some People Forget

Filed under: ADD Awareness, ADD Coaching, ADD Treatment Pete Quily @

Healthoma has a blog post titled ADHD is treatable. Great title and great point. via Your ADD/ADHD news ADD blog carnival

The causes are linked to genes and to the environment—they are not caused by an excessive intake of sugar or by any other medication. Typically, another family member may have also suffered from it and this is also a sign.

Some people especially men with ADHD stay in denial about having ADHD, in some cases they need to be on their 2nd or 3rd wife until they clue in. Or their 4th or 5th job they’ve been fired from/had to quit before getting fired.
