Vancouver Blogger Meetup April Edition

Went to another Vancouver Blogger Meetup on Wednesday at the Whip. As usual had an interesting time talking with other Vancouver bloggers and twittering Robert Sanzalone who’s over in Japan teaching ESL and doing tech activites.

Jan Karlsbjerg was organized enough list all the bloggers there with links and RSS feeds and a group shot. John Biehler has some photos up too. One thing about hanging around other bloggers is there’s not usually a problem with a finding someone with an opinion on a wide variety of topics, not too much talk about the weather.

  1. Teaching in Japanese Jr. High Schools actually. Did you know ADD is rarely acknowledged in Japan, especially in the school system?

  2. konichiwa eh?

Unfortunately Canada is 5-10 years behind the US in dealing with ADD, and Japan is a lot further behind us. Apparently you can only get ritalin and dexedrine there as ADD meds where here there’s a lot more. ADD isn’t just a north american condition its universal from south african villages to Japan.

Given that 8% of kids have ADHD, you’ll probably have some in your class. So you might want to check out my section on Teaching Students Who Have ADD http://www.addcoach4u.com/teachingstudents/teachingstudentsadhd.html

or for more clinical stuff check out the Cdn 2006 adhd guidelines http://caddra.ca/english/phys_guide.html

    or http://www.chadd.org for general info.
