Ipod Touch The Personal ADD Assistant

Filed under: ADD and Technology Pete Quily @

One of the advantages of coaching adults with ADHD, is that you often have some pretty creative clients. One client had trouble organizing themselves while they were out of the house and generally preferred using the computer to help her manage time.

Being a Mac person (sold them for 7 years) and knowing that she didn’t want a cell phone (so no iphone) I suggested she consider getting an ipod touch because ease of use and intuitiveness were important considerations. Also I asked if she usually lost her ipod, because the ipod touch is amazing, but kind of expensive, and that wasn’t a problem for her. She got an ipod touch it worked great for her. Here’s her review of it from the usefulness for an ADD time management perspective.

8 Years After it’s OK For Kids US FDA Approves Concerta for Adults

So now you know how the US Government feels about Adults with ADHD. 2nd class citizens? An after thought? We’ll eventually get around to you, but you’re not really that important.

8 Years. Count em. Almost a decade. It has been used off label for quite some time, but now it’s “officially approved” by the FDA as medication for adults with ADHD. Maybe it’s not just the FDA’s fault, maybe its the manufacturer’s Mcneil Pediatrics/ Janssen-Ortho. Maybe both.

For the clinically inclined types, here’s the Medscape CME (free login required) on it. Here’s the detailed Concerta Prescribing Information PDF.

Justin Timberlake Says He Has ADHD and OCD

Filed under: Famous Confirmed Living ADDers Pete Quily @

Another famous confirmed living person with ADHD. I think the only thing he’s slightly infamous for is revealing Janet Jackson’s nipple during the superbowl.

In an interview with Collider magazine for his new movie the Love Guru, Justin Timberlake said that he had ADHD and OCD.

Question: Do you have the OCD where you have to fix everything? (he’s adjusting all the recorders that got put down in front of him)

Justin Timberlake: I have OCD mixed with ADD, you try living with that.

I’m sure there are many problems with having them both but I can see at least one common ADD problem he probably doesn’t to worry about. Clutter.
