Blog redesigned. Whaddya think?

The joys and agony of WordPress.

I’ve been meaning to customize my WordPress blog’s look for a while. I’ve been putting it off because while I know a reasonable amount of html, I don’t know php and css very well, and if you want to change a WordPress blog that’s what you need to know, and it can be very time consuming.

I was over at a friend’s house recently and saw my blog on his windows machine (I use a Mac). I was surprised to see several sections of the blog in pink, a color I’m not that fond of. I prefer blue. I’ve seen my blog on a windows machine before and it wasn’t pink, but I guess his OS and browser were different. This motivated me to actually get started redesigning my blog. Sometimes things that are irritating are a blessing in disguise, in that they can motivate us to take action.

So I’ve been up pretty late making some changes.

Changes made:

Changed the outside border to blue,
Changed the footer to blue
Changed the bar underneath the picture with links to my website to blue.
Changed the title font to blue. Get the feeling I like this color? Find it calming, good for the hyperactive ADD mind to slow down and chill out.
Increased the size of the title font and increased the space between it and the actual copy.
Changed the background color in the comments section to white.

Thing still to be learned then done:

Increase the white space around the top and bottom of the blog description “ADD Knowledge+Awareness+Coaching+Action+Support= Adult ADD Strengths ”
Reduce the size of the ezine signup section, can’t seem to adjust the html,
Add a blank line in word press to have a space between the 2 Amazon books (I have both at home).
Get the filed under category section at the bottom of the post rather than below the title.
Find how to indent the title, categories content and comments. They look fine on safari and Camino but not on Internet exploder 5.2 on the Mac.

Couldn’t seem to get the same blue color as my website. Will wait and see if I prefer this versison of blue.

I’m using the WordPress support forum to learn how to make the changes and sometimes they’re really helpful but sometimes you get answers that don’t work, you ask follow up questions and you get silence. Can be frustrating.
