Britain’s dual Olympic gold medalist, Kelly Holmes, said she cut herself with scissors and considered committing suicide while suffering depression in 2003
One of the comorbid conditions associated with ADD is depression. Sometimes depression is a result of undiagnosed and untreated ADD, since if you understand the symptoms of ADD they could easily lead to depression. If this is the case, learning to manage your ADD more effectively through coaching, therapy, ADHD medication, diet and exercise can positively affect the symptoms of depression. Sometimes the depression has nothing to do with the ADD.
I’m using Britain’s dual Olympic gold medalist, Kelly Holmes here as an example not because she has ADD but that you can achieve great things as seen by the outside world (how many dual gold medalists do you know?) and still be effected by depression. It can happen to anyone, and many don’t deal with it because of the stigma that some ignorant people have around it.
Many people with ADHD get misdiagnosed with depression and or anxiety disorders
