UPDATE: The event is getting very popular, make sure you register on their facebook group and show up early if you want a seat.
For my non blogging readers, WordPress is a very popular, free, open source blogging platform that this blog and many others are run on. Hopefully more people with Adult ADHD will start blogging to raise awareness of the negatives AND positives of Adult ADHD and help reduce the stigma relating to the number 2 genetically inherited condition after height.
Tazzu is organizing a free Vancouver WordPress Camp April 30th from 5.30-8.30pm at The Network Hub
3rd floor – 422 Richards Street. It is also home to the Vancouver Entrepreneur meetup run by the friendly multiple entrepreneur Minna Van.
There are a lot of bloggers in the Vancouver area, many of them I know use WordPress. There’s a monthly Vancouver Blogger Meetup hosted by the always interesting Isabella Mori that I enjoy going to and having a good discussion. I think this is the first WordPress camp in Vancouver, they’re held in many other cities around the world.
We are getting together at the Network Hub to share and exchange tips and how-tos on WordPress and blogging in general. We will also learn how to reach a larger audience by using a WordPress blog in conjunction with other web services and Social Networking websites such as Flickr, YouTube, Slideshare, Facebook, and Google Calendar.
The Event is 3 hours long. 7 Presenters get 20 minutes each to share their ideas. There will be two 20 min. breaks, so we could socialize a bit and have a laugh.
They’ve managed to get some well known local bloggers, (including the prolific Miss 604 and the world famous/infamous? internet marketer John Chow) as presenters.
Here’s a list of topics and presenters:
Adding photos [flickr, permissions, links, gallery plugins, badges] to your WordPress blog. Rebecca Bollwitt
The Joys of Amateur Blogging. Bruce Byfield
How to make money using a WordPress Blog. Last I read he was making 30k a month from his blog. John Chow
Blogging & Social Media. Monica Hamburg. I’m currently enjoying her audio link to senator Ted “the internet is a series of tubes” Stevens. You should listen to the whole clip, it’s cluelessness at it’s highest form.
WordPress for total website development. Jeff Kee
Good Typography in WordPress. Greg Andrews
Using WordPress to create a custom library, catalog, or other mashup-type site. Kulpreet Singh
WordPress and mobile blogging – i.e. how to read and write from an iPhone. Duane Storey
There’s more details on the presenters at Tazzu’s blog.
