Boing Boing’s Cory Doctorow Speaking in Vancouver March 8-9 The Totalitarian Urge

Update: Jan reminds me it’s free so change sold out to probably booked up if you don’t move quick.

Got this from Jan Karlsbjerg Cory Doctow will be speaking in Vancouver March 8-9th at SFU Vancouver and Burnaby, in 2 events that will include launches for his new book, Overclocked. Details on Cory’s blog

For those who do not already know Cory Doctorow, he’s an electronic freedom fighter (a former fellow of the EFF), science fiction author, boingboing core contributor, academic, teacher, and generally one of the busiest and coolest people you’re ever likely to meet.

Boing Boing is one of the most popular and creative blogs on the net, whenever I get a link from them I’ve got a ton of traffic. Cory has a very unique way of looking at the world, business and the internet, I haven’t heard him speak but my guess is you won’t be bored. It’ll probably be booked up sold out so you might want to register early.

Jan is inviting people for a drink and a chat afterword leave a comment on his blog post or email him.
I had a great time at Northern Voice, will blog a bit about it after some much needed sleep.

  1. Since you write “sold out” I just wanted to mention that both lectures are free. The Thursday evening lecture downtown requires you to call and reserve a seat, whereas the Friday afternoon lecture at SFU on Burnaby Mountain is first-come first-served.

  2. Oops. not sold out but booked up. Thanks Jan, yes they are both free, but because he’s so well known if you don’t reserve in time for the Vancouver one or show up early enough for the bby one there’s a good chance you won’t get in to see him.
