The lighter side of ADD.
From a website of rants, comes a rant about ADD from someone that has it.
ADD people don’t do well marching to someone else’s beat. They prefer to pull out a trumpet instead. Kids with this condition are not retarded or special. As a matter of fact, the majority of times they test with very high IQ’s. They can multitask and have a talent for intuitiveness and creativity. They shine brightly when given a chance. Having ADD is not a handicap. It can be an advantage in some instances. If you think you have it, get tested. If you DO have it, do some serious reading and KNOW what you are getting into.
I know a lot of ADDers do not like being told what to do more than is absolutely necessary and some of us do have problems with authority. Especially with moronic, mentally calcified, mono track minded authority figures with ponderously slow non ADD brains. No, I’m not naming names.
ADDers often challenge authority, sometimes with good cause and sometimes in a reflexive reactionary way. Often this can results in change for the better it’s done from the first viewpoint, and done skilfully. That being said, over time some of us ADDers can gradually adapt to a more peacefully coexisting condition with people in authority. Some of us even become authority figures.
