Pete Will Be a Panelist at the Self Help Resource Association’s Peer Support for Healthy Communities Sept 21st in Vancouver

I’ll be one of the panelists speaking and answering questions at the Self Help Resource Association’s Now called Peer Net BC  Peer Support for Healthy Communities: An Information and Networking Fair September 21. If you’re leader in a lower mainland self-help or peer support group you might want to attend this but you need to register by tomorrow.

Apologies for not blogging it earlier, I’ve been going all out helping to organize the Navigating ADHD event for ADD Awareness day.

I’ll be talking about my experience with the ADD support group I lead, the Vancouver Adult ADD support group. I took one of their Grassroots Facilitation Training Workshops a year or so ago and found it very useful, and would highly recommend it. If you want to start up an ADD Support group in your area, you might want to look at this section on my website, How to Start & Run Support Groups

In celebration of SHRA’s 13th Annual General Meeting, we’re bringing together people from the self-help and peer support community to learn from each other and share our successes. The event will include: space for networking and information sharing; a demo of our new online community for self-help and peer support, PeerNetBC.com, and; a panel discussion (followed by Q&A) around organizational and group development. This will be a great opportunity to share the successes and challenges we’ve all faced in building groups. Registration is required. If you would like to attend and/or host an information table, please contact Stephanie Hunter at shra@telus.net or 604-733-6186. Registration closes September 15. The event will be held on Thursday, September 21, from 5:00 – 8:00pm at BCIT’s Downtown Campus (555 Seymour Street).
